Buying a home in Texas: what to know
The option period
A short window you pay a small fee for. You can inspect the home and cancel for any reason. Ask us for the dates before you tour.
Earnest money
A deposit that shows you are serious. It is protected if you cancel inside the option period or for reasons the contract allows.
The appraisal
If you use a loan, the lender orders an appraisal to confirm the home is worth the price. If it comes in low, you can renegotiate, bring extra cash or walk away, depending on your contract. We plan for this before you offer.
